Local office of the Public Guardian and Trustee * protects the interests of private citizens or estates as required * protection of interests and financial situations of adults who may be mentally incapable of making their own decisions, following a thorough investigation of the situation
Local office has professionals in social work, health care and finances * services for people who may need their interests protected include (when necessary):
- conducting capacity investigations
- managing finances
- making personal care decisions
- appointing private guardians of property
- arranging legal representation in capacity proceeding
- making decisions about treatment and admission to long-term care
- reviewing accounts
- acting as a litigation guardian or legal representative
